When people go to a beauty salon, they all have different feelings. But I think they all expect to refresh their mind along with the new hair style. So my goal was to create the most relaxing place and especially concerned the visual effect of what they see while they get hair done.

When a customer gets seated and looks into the mirror, one sees no lighting equipments through it. The mirror is like a new canvas. Into the canvas, the beautician paints the brand-new style of the customer. When the customer leaves the small salon, I hope everyone is more beautiful in looks and minds.

The client’s expectation was the classical structure based on a black-and-white pattern. I created a fusion of the Japanese simplicity aesthetic called “Zen” and the Western structure and tried to express one of a kind atmosphere. I focused on color and texture, and try not to use too expensive materials.

I feel Japanese is losing the spiritual richness while pursuing the material wealth too much. I seek for the design which brings spiritual richness when people experience my work.
